Average Rent in Kuala Lumpur
How much rent you pay depends on in which area you live. Obviously, when you live in Kuala Lumpur City Centre, you have to pay much more rent than living in Damansara. Below you can find the average rent in Kuala Lumpur in certain areas.
KLCC – RM 4438
KLCC, by far the most expensive area in Kuala Lumpur. It seems to be designated to the rich only with an average rental from RM 4,000 to 15,000! In average, 48% of your income will go to your rental. However, this area has advantages too. You’re close to the best malls in the country, best restaurants and best nightlife in the city. Your transport will also cost much less than other areas.
Petaling Jaya – RM 2,900
PJ, the place to be for Kuala Lumpur’s middle class. In PJ, you can find nice houses for affordable prices. Also, it is not too far from the city centre. With the LRT, it takes you 15 minutes to get to KLCC. Compared with living in KLCC, you will pay slightly more for transport. However, you save a lot in terms of rental.
Subang Jaya – RM 2,700
Subang Jaya can be compared with PJ. However it is slightly cheaper and suitable for those who want to have a special night life in this area.. Therefore it’s also affordable for middle class and below. That having said, it will take you longer to get to KLCC. Therefore it could be a great option for families.
Damansara – RM 1533.33
This is one of the cheapest places in the area. Therefore it could be suitable for students or starters. However, if you want to go the the city centre you need to travel a while, which makes it more expensive. The interesting thing is that Desa Park is located in this area!.
Shah Alam – RM 1433
The cheapest in the area which is good for people with a lower budget. But…
If you wanna go to the city centre you need to travel 24 km. Which is a lot. But no worries! Shah Alam is growing really fast and will be the first city in Klang! Which makes this an area with high potential!
