Prior to SPEEDHOME, I was a self made millionaire at the age of 24. And I invested almost all my savings into Aflexi with Yuen-Chi Lian Wai Keen Woon. I was almost broke, then it was then acquired by OnApp in 2011, which powers 1/3 of the worlds cloud computing.
Circa end of 2015, I launched Speedrent.com because I felt the pain of being a landlord. Nobody was helping me to manage my tenants/properties at an affordable rate. So SPEEDHOME was built from ground up with the sole intention to empower, give you, as a landlord to transaction property rental easily.
However, no VC wanted to fund us because nobody was doing it in the Western world. I persisted in my belief that the property rental needs more automation to transact faster, safer and easier. Thanks to Steason Tee and Wei Zien we started this company together.
Fast forward today, we grew from transacting RM2 million per quarter to transacting RM13 million during Q1 2020 itself! WOW! We did 50% of FY2019 revenue in Q1 2020 and our business has recovered to pre-COVID19 level and we’re on track for growth again!
For the first 4 years of the business, We’ve only raised a total of RM1m. I’ve actually seeded SPEEDHOME with RM500,000. Hence, I’m super vested and motivated to make it successful because my 3 kids education funds and family retirement REALLY depend on it.
Our investors include Silicon Valley 500 Startups (VC Khailee Ng), IJM RE (wholly owned subsidiary of IJM Corp Bhd Schlaine Wong). Joel Neoh Yeoh Chen Chow Kee Siak Chan Chor Guan Yeoh and many of SPEEDHOME’S early customers who trusted us.
Thanks for Allianz,Linda Lor andMichael Fong who have supported me along the way from building the product to a product that’s widely sought after. Allianz piloted with us for first 2 years before we decided to go big together.
I always prefer ECF to VC because of my personal past dealing with the latter, but this is our last round with ECF. We will exceed the threshold limit set by Security Commissions of RM10m paid up capital. And therefore can not raise on ECF anymore.
