Winners announced for the South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) 2015

The Gala Dinner and awards presentation ceremony for the South East Asia Property Awards (Malaysia) (“SEAPA Malaysia”) was held at The JW Marriott Kuala Lumpur on 26 August 2015, and saw the attendance of more than 300 influential industry leaders and top real estate professionals.

HIGHLIGHTS

SP Setia came out on top by winning “Best Developer”, the Awards’ top honour. Other contenders for this award are Dynasty View Sdn Bhd (wholly-owned subsidiary of UM Land), Mah Sing Group and Sime Darby Property, who were Highly Commended.

SP Setia also won the Best Green Development award for KL Eco City and the Best Luxury Condo Development (Central Malaysia) award for Vogue Suites 1 at KL Eco City, and two ‘Highly Commended’ in the development and design sections.

Other big winners at the Awards include Mammoth Empire’s WOLO Bukit Bintang project (winner of the Best Commercial Development, Best Commercial Architectural Design and Best Hotel Interior Design categories) and Front Concept’s Senibong Cove residential development (winner of the Best Landscape Architectural Design, Best Housing Development (South Malaysia) and Best Housing Development (Malaysia) categories).

AWARDS FOR QUALITY AND EXCELLENCE

SEAPA Malaysia is presented by Asia’s industry-leading magazine Property Report, and is the first Property Awards programme in Malaysia since the Goods and Services Tax (GST) was implemented last April. The GST implementation was initially feared to potentially weaken the demand for real estate in the country; however, investor sentiment has remained positive and the market generally remains stable across segments, with local developers striving to maintain the high quality of their developments.

David Aboud, chairman of the independent panel of judges for SEAPA Malaysia, says that the Awards have “improved the ‘public spotlight’ for those developers who are serious about generating high standard projects” and that “having independent assessment is much more powerful than simply having a large marketing budget”. Aboud also commented that the Awards allowed countries to measure themselves against other regional ASEAN developers.

GEARED UP FOR THE FINALS

Winners of SEAPA Malaysia, along with winners from the awards within each country, including Indonesia, Myanmar, Phillippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore, will compete at the South East Asia Property Awards; its Gala Dinner and awards presentation ceremony is scheduled to be held at The Shangri La Hotel in Singapore on 21 October 2015. Tickets to the Gala Dinner can be purchased on Asia Property Awards’ website, and are inclusive of cocktail networking reception, four-course dinner, wine, beer and soft drinks throughout the evening.
